The ideal running mates

It looks like John McCain and Mike Huckabee are the big winners from
Super Tuesday.

McCain takes the popular vote and Huckabee a respectable third - the
ideal running mates. A liberal president who is acceptable to the
Republican establishment and a Southern Baptist vice-president who is
acceptable to the religious right.

The victim is America, because we will have more of the same. McCain
has promised us 100 years in Iraq, more of a fed controlled economy,
and business as usual in Washington. The lobbyists are cheering.
Huckabee will temper, but not change the McCain presidency. He will
make sure that the southern Republicans are placated - but not
satisfied.

Maybe the best thing that could happen to the conservative movement in
the United States is a Clinton-Obama victory in November. Then maybe
they would realize they need to listen to sanity - a voice like Ron
Paul.
