No viewers' favorites at the Academy Awards

A Reuters poll of viewers puts Juno ahead at the Oscars, but that's not how the Academy Awards are decided. Apparently it's critics and insiders who make the choice - and also make this the biggest farce of the year. But since I have free rentals at stake from my local movie rental store, I'm going to choose to go with the critics.

I did a survey of 10 critics - the first ten that popped up in google news search. They were the New York Times, LA Times, AP Writers, CNN, National Post (Canada), BBC, Boston Herald, Seattle Post-Intelligencer, daimondbackonline, and the Flint Journal's Ed Bradley. Then I compared them with the Critic's Awards and made my selection.

From my research here is my first choice:

Best Picture - No Country for Old Men (6 votes, also Critic's Choice)
Best Director - Ethan and Joel Coen (7 votes, also Critic's Choice)
Best Actress - Marion Cotillard (5 votes and I want to see this one)
Best Supporting Actress - Ruby Dee (3 votes, a squeaker)
Best Actor - Daniel Day-Lewis (6 votes, also Critic's Choice)
Best Supporting Actor - Javier Bardem (6 votes, also Critic's Choice)

Comments:
I don't want Daniel Day-Lewis to win but I'm sure he's going to. I think his whole performance is overrated. But oh well I can't really judge considering I don't want to see that movie. Johnny Depp was creepily amazing as Sweeny Todd though. Oscar worthy? Maybe. As for Marion Cotillard, I don't really know about her either. This is another one I haven't seen (but want to) so I can't accurately say anything about her. I wouldn't mind seeing Ellen Page winning for Juno.

I agree with most of the picks but I feel that Ruby Dee does should not win an Oscar for her performance. Below are the people who should win on Sunday.

Picture No Country for Old Men
Director Ethan Coen, Joel Coen
Actor Johnny Depp
Actress Ellen Page
Actor Supporting Javier Bardem
Actress Supporting Amy Ryan

I also agree with most of the picks. I also think Ellen Page should win for Juno. I'm sort of surprised that Juno is in the Oscar talks even though I liked the movie. I also think Daniel Day-Lewis should win best actor easily. I don't even think George Clooney should be nominated. I'm also not really a big fan of Sweeney Todd but I really don't think any Tim Burton movies that much.

I would like to see either No Country or Juno take best Picture. The Coen brothers always do amazing work and Juno had witty dialogue and was quite entertaining. Out of the choices for best actor, I imagaine Daniel Day Lewis though I have not seen this film. I don't think Depp will take this for Sweeny Todd; especially since he was better as Jack Sparrow. I think Javier has a good chance of taking supporting actor but I'm not quite sure on actress.

I hate Johnny Depp. (Anti American) Ellen Page was pretty good, Daniel Lewis was amazing in there will be blood. Picture would be either No Country or There will be blood.

I haven't seen any of the films or performances, but I have seen several interviews with the nominees. I watched a Diane Sawyer interview with Daniel Day-Lewis this morning on Good Morning America. Based on that, I think he deserved to win best actor. She interviewed him right after he was presented with the award. He was so humble and shy about it. Based on the personality aspect, he deserved it.
