Favoring existing beliefs and states of affairs when proposals for change are made.
- We should change the grading scale to include + and -. Further defining of grades gives more precise information about a student’s performance.
- Why should we change. We have had simple letter grades for the last 30 years and they work fine.
- At our company open-toed shoes are not allowed because it is a standard that has been in place for 10 years.
- Parent to child: We’re not going to open presents on Christmas eve because we’ve always done it on Christmas morning.
