Measure interruptions and simultaneous speaking

  1. A high number of interruptions or incomplete statements may be an indication that people are not listening to each other.
  2. Identify all the interruptions and simultaneous speaking in the trasncript.
  3. List the group members in the first column and across the top row.
  4. Beside each name indicate the number of times they interrupted each of the other members of the group whose names are listed above each column.
  5. Total each of the rows and each of the columns.  The totals in the last column report the number of times each person interrupted other people.  The totals in the bottom row indicate the number of times each person was interrupted.
