For each of the items above the % of students is indicated who have 1) met the Acceptable Standard, 2) met the Standard of Excellence and 3) did not meet an acceptable standard. The + sign means the percent of students meeting the standard is significantly above the expected percent. The = sign means the percent of students meeting the standard is not significantly different from the expected percent. The percentage of students who did not meet expected standards was lower for Beaverlodge than throughout the Province of Alberta. Throughout the province several students are excused for various reasons but every Beaverlodge Elementary Grade 6 and Grade 3 student wrote the tests here in June 2000.

2) Special Programs

School Evaluation completed by John Hogarth. 
Early Literacy Program introduced into Kindergarten, Grade one and Grade 2 
Safe and Caring Schools 
DARE Program 
Leadership Programs for Grade Six

3) Facility

The School and community of Beaverlodge completed a playground renovation program. This involved volunteer labour, donations and matching grants.

4) School Council

Beaverlodge Bucks - fundraiser 
Teacher Appreciation - served lunch and purchased a plant for the staffroom Supported Excellence in Teaching Award received by Gena Jones, our Vice-Principal

5) Professional Development

Betty Wiebe - Blended Style and Structure in Writing Program. There was a one day inservice in November and implementation in Grades one through six.

6) Community Relations

The active public relations program included the following:

  • school newsletters
  • school newspaper
  • District newspaper
  • Spot Light
  • thank you notes from students to local groups, e.g. IODE
  • bring a friend to lunch
  • Air Band Contests
  • Stocking Stuffer Talent Show
  • Christmas Concert
  • P.A.C. (Parent Advisory Council)
