School Annual Report 1999/2000
Alexis Lange of Ridgevalley School, Crooked Greek, was one of 14 students chosen from across Canada to take part in the two week tour of Israel, the Holocaust and Hope Student Study Tour. This was a tour that the Massuah Institute for the Study of the Holocaust and The League for Human Rights of B'nai Brith Canada. We have had the distinction of having three of our Grade 10 students, Zara Lacombe, Amber Harder and Blythe Boyce, selected to attend various educational political functions in our country. Lacombe attended both Mr. Speaker's Youth Parliament in Edmonton and the Forum For Young Canadians in Ottawa. Boyce attended the Forum for Young Albertans in Edmonton and Harder was selected to attend Mr. Speaker's Youth Parliament in Edmonton. PWSB #33 has been granted
AISI funding for its Curriculum Implementation Program commencing in September
2000. Darcy Wood, a Ridgevalley School teacher, has been seconded part?time
as the senior high mathematics team leader. In this position he will assist
teachers throughout the school division with the implementation of the
Western Canada Protocol mathematics curriculum. This may include providing
in-services, the facilitation of sharing information between staff in the
division and school visits far one-on-one consultations. Additionally,
Mr. Wood is one of two teachers in the Peace Country that has been trained
by Texas Instruments to provide in-service on the TI calculators and data
collection tools and also one two teachers selected by Pearson Education
Canada (Addison-Wesley) to provide in-services on the use of the Applied
Mathematics 11 and 12 textbooks and teacher resource materials.
