Rycroft School

Rycroft School has fully integrated the Reader's Workshop program in all grade levels. We were so fortunate to have the best promoter of it in our school -- Kathy Rowe!! Our library has a large section dedicated for all the books used through the program.

Our 25 IBM computer lab has been enhanced with computers in every classroom as well, that are used to enrich all subject areas.

Two Book Fairs and two Prairie Art Gallery Displays help keep our library an exciting place to be. We had Sue Farrell our local author from Sexsmith do a reading for us!

Declamation (public speaking) is always a big part of our LA program. Rycroft School hosts the North Division Elementary Declamation and we see some amazing public speakers on the rise.

We host a volunteer Tea and a senior's Tea to show our appreciation for the community involvement in our school. School Council members and parents went "over board" in a whole week of teacher and support staff appreciation. Rycroft School promotes our local winter festivity by kicking off the weekend with our Winter Frolic at the school level. It always involves tots of parental help and is a great time!

Our students participated in a World Vision 30 hour Famine, and raised a substantial amount to help children on other countries.

Remembrance Day was recognized through a lot of projects. Some of our students work made it to the Provincial level!

Science Fair was a big hit. There were some amazing projects from some "budding" scientists.

A swimming program to Grande Prairie allows a few of our elementary grades to get their swimming lessons.

Jr. High students enjoyed a ski trio to Jasper. They do their fund raising and school booth to raise funds for this trip.

A cross graded activity was held every week bringing the younger and older grades together in a fun activity that often highlighted special occasions.
