We had several first place winners in the Cross-Country Race Meet held in Spirit River on September 28, 1999. Brion MacDonald achieved first in the elementary ten and under boys, Bruce Thomi placed first in the elementary eleven and over boys, and Christine Chambul came in first place in the Intermediate Girls.

Grade Eight student, Glengarry MacDonald and his sister Megan (Grade Seven), each took gold medals in their respective divisions at the Provincial Wrestling Tournament held in Rocky Mountain House on February 5 and 6, 2000. Younger brother Brion placed fourth in his division. Glengarry was featured in the Edmonton Journal's weekend sports' section as a result of his win, as well as being CJXX's athlete of the month.

Grade Seven student, Tracy Meyer, was the recipient of two Legion awards on May 10, 2000. Tracy won at both district and zone level for her essay, entitled, "Remembrance Day: What Is It?".

Last spring, Grade Six student, Lacey Doble, won third place in a province-wide poster contest sponsored by the Alberta Motor Association. Lacey received the Award of Merit in the elementary category and has had her poster published and sent to schools province-wide.
